Pack Finances

The pack collects dues each year, which cover registration fees payable to BSA, Boys’ Life subscription, and pack expenses. Most of the pack expenses go to purchasing achievements and badges, administrative costs for activities (e.g., rent for County facilities), food costs at pack activities, and enrollment fees for summer camp (adult leaders). The dues are payable each year by the end of October. If a scout's dues are not paid in full by the end of October, that scout will not be eligible to earn additional achievements and advancements for the remainder of year until dues are paid in full. A limited number of scholarships for reduced dues may be arranged for scouts that are not able to pay dues as a result of family hardships. The scholarships can be arranged by contacting the Cubmaster, who will consult with a subcommittee of the Pack Committee. Adult leaders do not pay dues. Tiger cubs pay a reduced rate.

In addition, a small fee is charged to participate in certain pack activities. For example, fees may be charged at activities involving meals to defray the cost of the food (e.g., Smith Center Weekend). Scouts are expected to pay their own way at activities that involve an entrance fee (e.g., parks, museums, cruises).

It takes substantial resources to run the quality program that Pack 434 consistently provides. Annual dues do not fully cover pack operating expenses. A basic part of scouting is to learn responsibility and to earn each scout's own way.  However, we limit our fundraising to one annual fundraiser (the district-wide "Popcorn Sales Campaign").  We also conduct a "Cake Walk" after each pack meeting.

Charitable Contributions

Cub Scout Pack 434 is a not-for-profit charitable organization and we welcome your charitable contributions.  In many cases, your donation is tax-deductible.  Please consult your tax advisor for details.

Corporate Matching Gifts

An easy way to double your donation to Cub Scouts Pack 434 is to find out if your company has a matching-gift program. Such programs typically match all or a percentage of employee contributions to charitable organizations, making the employer a partner in employees' personal philanthropy. Simply obtain a matching-gift form from your employer's personnel office, fill it out, and provide it to us with your contribution.

The Human Resources manager at your company will usually know if your company has a matching-gift program, or can direct you to the right person.

Most companies have a simple form that you will fill out and mail to us along with your contribution.  Once we provide your company with a copy of your donation receipt or check, they will mail us a check to match the percentage they offer.

If your company doesn’t have a matching-gift program, you might be able to take advantage of the matching gift program of a parent, subsidiary or affiliate company.
